"LCCM’s mission is to recruit and maintain underrepresented pre-health students, specifically Latinx students by providing academic support, mentorship and volunteering opportunities through weekly meetings with health professional guest speakers."

What We Do

Latinxs/Chicanxs for Community Medicine (LCCM) is comprised of a group of 28 dedicated Board Directors who have experiences ranging from being Latinx, first-gen, low-income, LGBTQ+, pre-health, and/or science majors/minors. LCCM has six branches; Executive Board (5) Student Services (5) ALMA (5) BLAIDS (5) DoT Org (5) LSHP (6). LCCM's overall goal is to provide academic, professional, and personal support to Latinx pre-health students at UCLA and beyond. Each branch has it's primary focus and goals, with Executive Board and Student Services focusing on providing resources, retention, emotional support, academic support, and professional support. The other branches; ALMA, BLAIDS, DoT Org, and LSHP are LCCM Projects who provide direct support to marginalized communities in a wide range of ways from educating youth at high school sites to putting on health fairs. Projects allow UCLA students/volunteers to gain first hand experience with these communities in hopes of increasing their cultural humility and eventually serve in the healthcare field.
