"Our mission is to bring the social justice issue of animal rights to the forefront of public awareness and policy and implement meaningful change through educational outreach and demonstrations focusing on four key areas of animal exploitation: in laboratories, the food industry, the clothing trade, and entertainment."

What We Do

SOS is a PETA-backed movement led by young people in cities across the U.S. and Canada who strive to take action to challenge the norm and help oppose speciesism. Since starting this March, 102 hubs have been formed across U.S. and Canada, joined by 783 members, with the goal of bringing the social justice issue of animal rights to the forefront of people’s minds and creating real change through education outreach and demonstrations. We focus our attention on four key areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. Our goal is to educate the general public starting on campus about the social justice issue of animal rights, and take meaningful action to implement changes on and beyond campus to improve animal welfare. Hours of involvement with this club can also be counted as official community service credit if desired, and active members will be recognized as an official campus ambassadors on our website.
