"Cadenza is a female-identifying a cappella group that aims to foster a close-knit community of individuals who share a passion for music and performance."

What We Do

Founded in 2008, Cadenza A Cappella has been spreading their love and passion for music to the UCLA community ever since. Every week, the girls of Cadenza temporarily disregard their North and South Campus differences and rendezvous at rehearsal to sing everything from Adele to Lady Gaga to Gnarls Barkley. They also quite enjoy the occasional cat video on YouTube and the more-than-occasional garlic cheese roll from Italian Express. Although they are one of the less intensive UCLA a cappella groups, they perform in various gigs throughout the year, both on the UCLA campus and in the surrounding Los Angeles area.

Remote Auditions
For Fall 2020, all auditions will be held remotely. There are two options: 1. Live Zoom auditions: these will take place October 4 and October 5, from 7pm to 9pm PDT. You will be asked to sing a short excerpt from a song of your choice, to sing some simple scales, and to either sight-read a short melody or learn it by ear. You can sign-up for an audition slot at bit.ly/CadenzaAuditions. Walk-ins are welcome. 2. Video submission: the window for video submissions is from October 1 to October 6 (11:59pm PDT). All you need to do is record a short a cappella excerpt from a song of your choice, and submit it at bit.ly/cadenzavideosubmissions. If you pass the initial round of auditions, you will be asked to do scales and sight-reading/pitch-matching at callbacks.
