"The Glendale Learning Program (GLP) was originally established as the Armenian Tutorial Project in 1989 to aid the transition of Armenian immigrant families into the Glendale area. As the community has evolved, GLP has also evolved to accommodate their educational needs. The students we work with are often from immigrant families that may not be able to provide support due to language and cultural barriers. We strive to lay fundamental academic skills and to inspire a lifelong passion for learning."

What We Do

GLP currently serves the students of both Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Theodore Roosevelt Middle School in Glendale, CA. Volunteers work one-on-one with students (grades 6th to 8th) to help them complete their school work and reinforce key concepts. Additionally, students are guided through a 30 minute activity that exposes them to topics in health, STEM, or environment/sustainability. Tutoring for Wilson students takes place on select Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm with transportation and a small breakfast provided for volunteers. Tutoring for Roosevelt students takes place on select Mondays from 3:05 pm to 4:35 pm.
